Tom Hardy has established himself as one of the most fiercely committed actors of his generation, and if the trailer for Steven Knight's "Locke" is any indication, his latest performance will be no exception.
Hardy stars as Ivan Locke, a construction foreman who, one night, drives from Birmingham to London. Locke has abandoned his job and family, and spends the evening on the phone with co-workers, his wife, his children, and others, all of whom are heard via his phone but never seen. Locke has decided to tear his life down for a single-minded purpose, but it's not immediately clear what that is.
It's a spare but fascinating concept, and Knight's film was very well received when it debuted out of competition at Venice last September. The film is being distributed by A24, and will hit theaters on April 25. Watch the trailer below.
