Hip-hop fans, get excited. This summer marks the theatrical release of Ice-T's first foray into directing, "Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap. Appropriately it's a documentary about what Ice-T knows best. The trailer recently premiered ahead of its June 8 release, and it does a good job of showcasing the tight grasp Ice-T has on the material. Indiewire caught the world premiere in Park City at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, and we can report it's quite the blast; a surefire crowd-pleaser for fans of the genre. Featuring appearances by Grandmaster Caz, Mos Def, Eminem, Nas, Chuck D, Kanye West, Ice Cube, Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre and more, "The Art of Rap" (co-directed by Andy Baybutt) is full of great music, freestyle rhyming and surprising reveals from the biggest masters in the game. "I wanted to reintroduce what the music was about," Ice-T told Indiewire at Sundance, of why he made the film. Go HERE for the full chat. Watch trailer below:
