Watch: Trailer for James Franco's William Faulkner Adaptation and Cannes Pick 'As I Lay Dying'

Drama runs high in the new trailer for James Franco's William Faulkner adaptation "As I Lay Dying."  While the trailer makes the film look like an intense edge-of-your-seat drama, Faulkner's modernist prose is often seen as hard to translate into film adaptations.

"As I Lay Dying" centers on a family who seeks to honor their matriarch's wish to be buried in the town of Jefferson.  The book has multiple narrators and each allows us to a see a different perspective on family dynamics.

We'll see how Franco fares with putting Faulkner to screen when the film debuts at Cannes this week in the Un Certain Regard section.
