Much Ado About Nothing, Joss Whedon

Shot more or less in secret in director Joss Whedon's Santa Monica home, the "Avengers" director's decidedly more lo-fi follow up "Much Ado About Nothing" has been gaining buzz since premiering at Toronto last year. But certainly it's buzz-worthy by just existing: the pairing of "Buffy" creator and geek auteur Whedon and the words of William Shakespeare is an interesting pairing to say the least, and now the first trailer has debuted, giving us the first look at Whedon's breezy, fun, and black and white vision of the Bard.

Starring Whedon regulars such as Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Nathan Fillion, and "Avengers" star Clark Gregg, the dialogue flows surprisingly well for the contemporary setting (keep in mind that that play is written mostly in prose with very little iambic pentameter), and makes it seems as though this experiment should be a success, and a funny and entertaining one at that.

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions will release the film on June 7th, and it should be interesting to see whether Whedon's devoted fans will come out in flock.
