If the premise of “The Divide” doesn’t raise the stakes for the rest of the movie, the first shot from its new trailer certainly does. Rockets quickly destroying Manhattan, all seen in the reflection of the tear-soaked eyeball of a beautiful woman?
And then there's the clip of Milo Ventimiglia (“Gilmore Girls,” “Heroes”) making a tough-guy stand while tempers flare and everyone loses their tenuous grasp on sanity: That does blunt some of the trailer’s impact.
The folks over at The Playlist weren’t crazy about the film when it premiered at SXSW earlier this year (I believe the term they used was Silly, Clichéd Apocalyptic Trash). However, there’s still plenty of visual teases to latch onto in the trailer.
What do you think: Trashy end-of-days fetish film or visually innovative story of survival?
