After hosting the Project of the Day column for almost two years, Indiewire is proud to announce that we'll give one project passes to the Tribeca Film Festival as the Indiewire Project of the Year.
Thanks to the Tribeca Film Institute, we're giving the team behind one of our Projects of the Month two passes to the Tribeca Film Festival, where they will be able to meet with industry leaders at the TFI Filmmaker/Industry Meetings held specifically for grantees of Tribeca Film Institute's many grant programs.
Just like the Project of the Week and Month voting, the Project of the Year will be named through a popular vote, which will be launched early Monday, March 11 and will end at 5PM Eastern Time Friday, March 15.
"It's a great match," said Indiewire editor in chief Dana Harris. "Project of the Day has become one of our most popular features and the Tribeca Film Institute is an excellent resource for filmmakers. I'm really happy we can take Indiewire a step further with Tribeca's support."
“Working with indieWire and being introduced to their Project of the Month winners has been enormously satisfying for us," said Tamir Muhammad, Director of Feature Programming, and Ryan Harrington, Director of Documentary Programming, of the Tribeca Film Institute. “The
TFI Filmmaker/Industry Meetings is a perfect platform to introduce the
Project of the Year to many decision makers from around the world.”
Here's more on the Filmmaker/Industry Meetings:
Every year during the Tribeca Film Festival, TFI holds their Filmmaker/Industry Meetings for their newly minted grantees. As a networking forum, the Filmmaker/Industry Meetings encourage the discovery of new projects by introducing industry participants to a carefully curated group of narrative and documentary filmmakers (as well as content creators) participating in TFI programs, including: Tribeca All Access, the TFI Sloan Filmmaker Fund, the TFI Documentary Fund, the TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund and the TFI New Media Fund. Over 150 people participated in the Filmmaker/Industry Meetings in 2012, and many grantees came out of the two-day event having secured broadcast deals, outreach partners and/or development deals.
The pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings are conducted in a structured, friendly, and convenient environment, and are aimed at helping TFI filmmakers find additional funding, partnerships, and better relationships with film industry executives.
