Wexner Center Names Media Arts Residency Award Recipients

Stephen Bognar, Helen DeMichiel, Thomas Poole, and Inigo Manglano-Ovalle will each work with up totwenty students to develop the arts projects. Bognar is the Ohio basedfilmmaker best known for his recent documentary, "Personal Belongings", DeMichiel is an independent filmmaker from San Francisco, Poole is aninstructor at the Educational Video Center in New York, and Manglano-Ovalleis an instructor at the University of IllinoisThe completed project will be developed over four years and while someprojects will be created as videos for broadcast on a single monitor,others may be presented as gallery installations or mixed-media projects.

Four artists have been selected to participate in a four year film/video
project, dubbed "Class of 2001", as part of a media arts residency award at
Columbus, Ohio's Wexner Center for the Arts. Stephen Bognar, Helen De
Michiel, Thomas Poole, and Inigo Manglano-Ovalle will each work with up to
twenty students to develop the arts projects. Bognar is the Ohio based
filmmaker best known for his recent documentary, "Personal Belongings", De
Michiel is an independent filmmaker from San Francisco, Poole is an
instructor at the Educational Video Center in New York, and Manglano-Ovalle
is an instructor at the University of Illinois


The completed project will be developed over four years and while some
projects will be created as videos for broadcast on a single monitor,
others may be presented as gallery installations or mixed-media projects.
