134 people have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization announced today. The voting membership is just under 6,000, as has been the case since 2003, AMPAS said.

134 people have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization announced today. The voting membership is just under 6,000, as has been the case since 2003, AMPAS said.

“These filmmakers have, over the course of their careers, captured the imagination of audiences around the world,” said Academy President Sid Gani, in a statement. “It’s this kind of talent and creativity that make up the Academy, and I welcome each of them to our ranks.”
