William H. Macy's "'Rudderless' Receives Distribution Through Samuel Goldwyn Films and Paramount Home Media Distribution

"Rudderless"

"Rudderless," William H. Macy's directorial debut and the closing night film at this year's Sundance Film Festival, will be making its way to theaters and VOD thanks to a single deal struck between Samuel Goldwyn Films and Paramount Home Media Distribution.

Per a joint press release issued by the two companies, the U.S. theatrical and VOD release will occur simultaneously. The deal allots U.S. theatrical distribution rights to Samuel Goldwyn, while Paramount handles VOD, other U.S. ancillary platforms, Canada U.K., Russia and parts of Asia.

Billy Crudup stars as a grieving father who has given up on his own life following the premature death of his son. When Crudup's character happens upon a box full of his deceased son's unpublished music, he decides to learn how to play the songs -- setting out on a journey of self-discovery. Anton Yelchin co-stars as a young musician who teams up with Crudup's character after seeing him perform one of the songs at a local bar, with Felicity Huffman and Lawrence Fishburne rounding out the rest of the cast.

Macy's reaction to the news was both sincere and humble. “When I first moved to LA, many years ago, I lived just off of Melrose, and I passed those beautiful gates to Paramount almost every day," he said. "Seeing them become our partner on 'Rudderless' and adding the storied Goldwyn Company into the mix excites me to no end."
