Winter, Bright, Radford Ready To Roll; Alexson In "Labor"

"Labor"

Compiled by Kevin Dreyfuss

>> Alex Winter Starts Production On Latest Film

Actor/writer/director Alex Winter ("Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure")
begins shooting his next writing and directing effort, "Fever" next week
in New York, with a tentative cast of Henry Thomas ("E.T.," the upcoming
"All The Pretty Horses"), Jared Harris ("Happiness," "I Shot Andy
Warhol") and Teri Hatcher ("3 Days in the Valley"). The psychological
thriller follows a troubled painter whose life and sanity slowly unravel
when a series of gruesome murders in his rundown tenement dredge up dark
childhood memories.

>> "Freeway" Helmer Bright To Start Pre On Next Pic

"Freeway" writer-director Matthew Bright is moving forward with
preproduction on his next film, "Confessions of a Trickbaby," a dark
updating of the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale about a girl who escapes
from juvenile prison with a teenage serial killer. Natasha Lyonne
("Slums of Beverly Hills") will star.

>> Radford Preps "Cavalier"

Also prepping for an upcoming shoot is "Il Postino" director Michael
Radford, who is finalizing cast for a large-scale, long-in-development
production of the classic Leo Perutz novel, "The Swedish Cavalier."
Produced by Jean-Louis Livi ("A Pure Formality") to be shot in France,
the film tells the story of two men, a knight and a peasant, who are
forced to switch identities to escape their enemies.

>> Alexson In "Labor"

Writer-director Traci Alexson is currently in production in New York on
her romantic comedy, "Labor Pains." Co-written by Brian Zuckerman, the
story follows a woman in labor as her family, friends and ex-boyfriends
gather around her, all stunned since she never bothered to tell any of
them she was pregnant in the first place, or who the father might be.
The expansive cast includes Kyra Sedgewick ("Losing Chase"), Lela Rochon
("The Big Hit"), James Naughton ("The First Wives Club"), Rob Morrow
("Last Dance"), Mary Tyler Moore ("Flirting with Disaster") and the
recently added Robert Klein ("Next Stop Wonderland") and Elizabeth
Ashley ("Happiness").
