Woodstock Film Festival To Honor Kopple

Academy Award winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple has been announced as the recipient of the Woodstock Film Festival's Annual Honorary Maverick Award. Kopple produced and directed "Harlan County, USA" and "American Dream," among many others. The festival, celebrating its seventh year October 11-15, 2006, will screen Kopple's latest film, "Shut Up and Sing," a documentary about the Dixie Chicks, as its closing night film. It recently announced that Douglas McGrath's "Infamous," the new Truman Copote biopic, will be opening the film festival. [Peter Knegt]
