XLrator Media is launching a new label, TURBO by XLrator, dedicated to the release of international action films in North America. The first three films will be “Naked Soldier,” “Blood Money” and “Brawler.”
“Some of the most thrilling and boundary-pushing filmmaking that has revitalized the action genre is coming from all over the world, such as ‘The Raid: Redemption’ from Indonesia, ‘13 Assassins’ from Japan, ‘District 13: Ultimatum’ from France, ‘Ironclad’ from the U.K. and the ‘Og Bak’ series from Thailand,” said XLrator CEO Barry Gordon, who will curate the new label with marketing and distribution president Mike Radiloff. “TURBO by XLrator will bring the most adrenaline-pumping, kick-ass new visions and filmmakers from around the globe to North American action fans.”
Gordon and Radiloff previously developed and ran the Weinstein Company’s Dragon Dynasty home entertainment label, which specialized in Asian martial arts and action films such as “Infernal Affairs” and “Kill Zone.”
Directed by Marco Mak, “Naked Soldier” stars Jennifer Tse as an assassin forced to confront an old target during a new assignment. Gordon negotiated the deal with Gordon Cheung of Mega-Vision Project, which is selling international rights.
Directed by Gregory McQualter, “Blood Money” stars martial arts master Zheng Liu, rap star Pitbull and Hong Kong legend Chia Hui Liu (aka Gordon Liu) in the story of a Shaolin warrior who goes after the drug cartels when his parents are killed and his sister is kidnapped. Gordon negotiated the deal with Lise Romanoff of Vision Films, which is handling worldwide rights in Cannes.
Nathan Grubbs and Marc Senter star in “Brawler” as brothers fighting in an underground MMA fighting competition on a New Orleans riverboat. Chris Sivertson directed. Gordon negotiated the deal with Michael Paszt and James Fler of Raven Banner.
XLrator recently released “We the Party,” “Ironclad,” “Bunraku,” “Knuckle” and “96 Minutes.”
