Zuker, Moler, Johnson and Polish

Compiled by Kevin Dreyfuss

>> Zuiker and Moler in Utah and Vegas

Currently wrapping production in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas is the dark
romantic comedy "The Runner," from writer Anthony Zuiker and producer-turned-
director Ron Moler. The $5 million Overseas Film Group production details the
story of a compulsive gambler whose life gets complicated when he is hired to
run numbers for a bookie, and meets the woman of his dreams. It stars Jon
Goodman ("The Big Lebowski"), Bokeem Woodbine ("Strapped"), David Arquette
("Sleep with the Fishes"), Joe Mantegna ("The Rat Pack"), Courteney Cox
("Scream 2"), Ron Eldard ("Bastard out of Carolina") and newcomer Danielle
King.

>> Kingstone and Mayrone's "Bad Bride"

From producer Astri Kingstone and director Gale Mayron comes "Bad Bride," a
hybrid narrative-documentary shot on digital video, currently in post-
production. The film begins with the real life experiences of lead
actress/subject/ writer Elizabeth Elkins, who took off on a cross-country
odyssey after being left at the altar, still wearing her wedding dress. For
the film, she reenacts that trip in full wedding gown regalia and expands on
it, initially searching for a replacement man for the one who left her, and
eventually finding herself. Kingstone and company are still waiting on
finishing funds and a distributor.

>> Johnson's "Vulgar" with View Askew

Kevin Smith protégé Bryan Johnson is currently in post-production on his
writing/directing debut, "Vulgar." The ultra-low budget comedy is produced by
Smith at his View Askew Productions, with Miramax distributing. The film
stars View Askew regulars from "Clerks," "Mallrats," Chasing Amy" and the
upcoming "Dogma," Shari Lynn Hipschman, Jerry Lefkowitz, Matthew Maher, Jason
Mewes, Brian O'Halloran and Ethan Suplee, along with Smith and Johnson
himself. All we know about the story here is that it concerns clowns and
serial killers. An obvious match.

>> Polish Twins Making "Idaho"

Identical twin brothers Michael and Mark Polish have seized on an au currant
idea straight out of Jerry Springer for their new film about the final days
and intimate struggles of a pair of conjoined twins, "Twins Falls, Idaho." A
co-production of The Fresh Produce Company and Sneak Preview Entertainment
(SPI), the recently wrapped production was written by and stars the Polish
brothers, with Michael directing. It marks their second collaboration, the
first being an award-winning short film, "Bajo de Perro." The film also stars
Lesley Ann Warren ("Killing Mrs. Tingle"), Patrick Bauchau ("The End of
Violence
"), John Gries ("Men in Black"), William Katt (of the classic TV show
"The Greatest American Hero"), supermodel Michelle Hicks and veteran comic
actor Garrett Morris.

CORRECTION: Sincere apologies to Mrs. Evi Quaid, wronged and transgenderly
misidentified in last week's Production Brief about her directing debut "The
