    IW NEWS | "World" To Open Fall "Stranger Than Fiction" Series

    "Stranger Than Fiction," the weekly documentary film series at New York's IFC Center programmed by Thom Powers, will launch its eighth season on September 23, 2008 with a sneak preview of Dan Stone's "At The Edge of the World." "World" is one of three STF titles playing as sneak previews following their world premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival. The others are Richard Parry's "Blood Trail" (on October 14) and Keven McAlester's "The Dungeon Masters" (on November 11).     iW NEWS | SnagFilms To Present "Haze" Premiere With Hamptons

    In a keynote presentation to the IFP's Independent Film Week Conference on Wednesday, SnagFilms CEO Rick Allen announced that "Haze," a documentary film narrated by Robin Wright Penn, will premiere simultaneously on SnagFilms and at the Hamptons International Film Festival. The doc focuses on the death of a young Colorado University fraternity pledge due to alcohol poisoning.     Sundance Channel has announced that it has secured the international rights for Isabella Rossellini's "Green Porno" short films. Beginning September 17, all eight episodes, about the sex life of insects and various creatures, will be available to viewers outside the United States by going to sundancechannel.com/greenporno.
