    San Francisco Film Society Unveils New Online Network; Details of 50th Festival

    The San Francisco Film Society has announced that it will present the world premiere of "Fog City Mavericks," directed by Gary Leva, during the 50th San Francisco International Film Festival, The U.S.'s oldest film fest. The film explores and celebrates the achievements of Bay Area filmmakers. George Lucas, in addition to other "Fog City Mavericks," will be on stage for the introduction of the premiere, and as previously announced, Lucas will also be the recipient of the one-time-only Irving "Bud" Levin Award, which will be presented at the Gala Awards Night.     "Once" Croons to Summit and Samson Joint Deal

    Sundance world dramatic competition film, "Once" by John Carney, has been acquired by Summit Entertainment in a deal that includes theatrical, video and television rights. The film sales company will sell worldwide rights, excluding Ireland, in conjunction with Dublin-based Samson Films, which produced the feature.
