In the traditionally indie categories, Kevin Macdonald's "One Day in September" won the award for Best Documentary, "King Gimp" took the Documentary Short Subject Oscar, "My Mother Dreams the Satan's Disciples in New York" won the Academy Award for Live Action Short and Alexandre Petrov won the Oscar for "The Old Man and the Sea."
