by Eugene Hernandez

FILM BYTES, a new weekly live "talk show" covering the creative and business perspectives of the entertainment media industry, debuted last week as a joint project of KINOTEK and PSEUDO.

The program is a weekly Friday evening series that brings together experts and insiders from the industry for a lively hour-long discussion. It is broadcast live over the Internet by the PSEUDO Online Network and includes a live in-studio audience. Tomorrow the pilot for the FILMMAKER Magazine show, "Sundance Class of 98': The Reunion," will focus on "the ups and downs of life after making it to, and making it through, the 1998 Sundance Film Festival," according to series creator and co-producer Julia Zborovsky. Four other organizations, including indieWIRE, have joined Zborovsky's KINOTEK to produce alternating episodes of the weekly program, they include AIVF, the Center for Communications, and Millimeter Magazine.

"The most important thing here is to provide accesss that previously has not been available other than going to festivals or panels," Zborovsky told indieWIRE yesterday, "On an ongoing basis people can come to get important information about the industy and its trends."

Zborovsky added, "Kinotek is seeking to create an additional staple to the community -- a source of information and support for the community." She offered that FILM BYTES will provide a special event held in conjunction with the innaugural New York International Documentary Film Festival and plans are also in the works to incorporate a regular screening series into the program.

Tonight's FILM BYTES show will be moderated by FILMMAKER Magazine's Ted Lambert of with special guests Bob Hawk, filmmaker Lisa Cholodenko (HIGH ART), co-producer Scott Vogel (Pi), and animator Bill Plymton.
