Justin Bieber Flogs His New Fragrance (Thank Goodness Not In Smell-o-Vision)

How dare things happen while I’m away? Keith Olbermann started a new show on Current TV, exactly like the old show but harder to find. The terrific doc Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop opened (here’s my rave review) and did not do well at the box office. Hmm, I wonder if seeing him four nights a week on TV made people reluctant to leave home to watch him on a big screen?

Wu-Tang Clan's RZA & Some Guy Called D.J. Cotrona In Talks For 'G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes'

Despite being an ugly, cartoony, badly-acted mess with very little to recommend it, 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" managed a fairly impressive $150 million gross in a late summer slot, which is the very least of an excuse that franchise-happy Paramount needed to greenlight a sequel. But that doesn't mean that they're not going to shake things up: director Stephen Sommers clashed with the studio on the original, and has departed for the supernatural thriller "Odd Thomas," while an eye on the bottom line has seen most of the original cast members, including Marlon Wayans, Christopher Ecclestone, Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Dennis Quaid and, most unsurprisingly, the since-gone-supernova Joseph Gordon-Levitt, put out to pasture.

Warner Bros. Wants To Go 'True North' With Ed Helms

The rise of Ed Helms has been pretty phenomenal. The former "The Daily Show" correspondent got a big career boost joining the third season of "The Office" in 2006 as the hapless Andy Bernard and then a few years later rocketed to stardom in "The Hangover." But the actor has been playing it cool since the megahit film. Aside from "The Hangover Part II," he's also had a major starring role in "Cedar Rapids" which hit screens earlier this year but Warner Bros. really really want to stay in the Ed Helms business. Back in 2009, Helms was attached to time-traveling Civil War comedy at the studio and now he's got another project brewing there.

Review: Down On The Bayou With "True Blood"

Last Night the much anticipated fourth season of True Blood premiered on HBO. As some of our long time readers know, I’m not a huge fan of some key elements in the show. In case you don’t recall, here’s my post from last summer. I took series creator Alan Ball and the True Blood writers to task on their ridiculous and sometimes paper thin portrayal of the show’s two characters of color, Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). I vowed with three episodes left in the third series, never to watch the show again.
