Regent Releasing's Jonathon Aubry has been promoted to Vice President, Theatrical Marketing, the Los Angeles-based company announced Tuesday. In his new position, Aubry will report to Mark Reinhart, Gernal Manager, West Coast Operations and Executive Vice President, Distribution and Acquisitions. Aubry will oversee all theatrical and DVD marketing and publicity for both here! Films and Regent Releasing’s other independent theatrical releases. This includes all gay and lesbian titles released under the here! Films banner as well as Regent’s roster of independent and specialized releases. INDUSTRY MOVES | Phathanavirangoon Joins Toronto Fest
Raymond Phathanavirangoon has been named the Southest Asian progammer for this year's Toronto International Film Festival. He joins TIFF from Fortissimo Films where he served as director of marketing and special projects. Phathanavirangoon has served as an international programmer for the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival, worked for the Hong Kong International Film Festival and served on the Teddy Jury at last year's B erlin International Film Festival.

INDUSTRY MOVES | Yeung Joins Fortissimo's HK Office; Lim Promoted
Esther Yeung has been named director of marketing and special projects, replacing Raymond Phathanavirangoon in the Hong Kong office of Fortissimo Films. She joins the company from the Asia Film Financing Forum. Additionally, Ingrid Y. Lim has been promoted to director of distribution and Asian sales.

iW NEWS | Urman Named ThinkFilm President
Mark Urman has been promoted to President of ThinkFilm, replacing Jeff Sackman who recently left the company. A co-founder of the company, Urman was head of theatrical distribution when it launched in September of 2001. Urman will remain based in New York City, which will now serve as the company's headquarters. Making the announcement, ThinkFilm chairman David Bergstein said, in a statement, "Mark has played a crucial role in establishing THINK as a brand that is known and respected around the world. His strengthened role in the company guarantees that THINKFilm will retain its unique identity even as we take the company in new directions." Since being acquired by Bergstein's CapCo in the fall of 206, the company has expanded stateside, while selling off its Canadian assets last month. Urman previously served as Co-President of Lions Gate Film Releasing and has also worked for Dennis Davidson Associates, Columbia Pictures, Triumph Films, and United Artists. INDUSTRY MOVES | Bonn Leaving Film Society of Lincoln Center
Tribeca Film Festival coverage sponsored by Stella Artois.
After five years as executive director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Claudia Bonn is leaving the post next month. In April, she will join Wave Hill as the new head of the public garden and cultural center in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Bonn has spent more than 15 years at the Film Society, previously serving as Director of Administration and as Director of Development. The organization's board is actively searching for a replacement.

iW NEWS | Kasell Launches New Festival Division at Home.Work.People
Denise Kasell, former executive director of the Hamptons International Film Festival, has launched a film festival consulting, staffing and training operation with Home.Work.People, a real estate and human resources company serving the entertainment industry with a database of some 2,500 freelance professionals. Aimed at smaller and midsize events, the company's new festival division will work to find and train a range of festival organizers and staff, as well as advising fests on developing key initiatives and programs. "There is a big gap in the way festivals are run," noted Kasell, "and we hope to bring uniformity and a professional approach to each event. At present there really is no one doing this. There are other consultants but they are stand alone individuals, not a company with resources to hundreds of festival personnel." [Eugene Hernandez]

iW NEWS | Toronto Fest Changes: Cowan Named Artistic Director of Bell Lightbox; Cameron Bailey Appointed New TIFF Co-Director
Toronto International Film Festival co-director Noah Cowan has been named Artistic Director of Bell Lightbox, the multi-million dollar festival center now under construction in downtown Toronto, while Cameron Bailey will assume the co-directorship of the festival effective January 1, 2008, Toronto International Film Festival Group head Piers Handling announced Wednesday. Handling also announced that Jim Hamilton, who over the last two years helped design and conceive the programming philosophy of Bell Lightbox, has decided to return to the United Kingdom. Cowan, a senior member of the artistic team at TIFFG, has served the past four years as co-director of TIFF and has worked with the organization for 23 years. He will retain a select programming and advisory role at TIFF, mentoring Bailey through his first year. Bailey has been a programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival for 12 years where he founded the Planet Africa section and headed the Perspective Canada series. Most recently he has been responsible for the annual selection of films from Africa, south Asia and the Philippines. "I have a great job...Being the co-director [of TIFF] is one of the best jobs in film," Cowan told indieWIRE by telephone Wednesday evening. "Bell Lightbox is going to be a unique cultural institution -- there's nothing like it. This provides me an opportunity to create a new institution -- that's the kind of challenge I relish...I also realize my interests as a curator is where film intersects with other media. VAR | Top promotions at Paramount
Paramount Vantage head John Lesher is leaving his post at the specialty division for a top job at the studio, Variety is reporting. The trade paper says that Lesher is being promoted along with Rob Moore as part of a Paramount shake-up, adding that Nick Meyer will likely lead Vantage.

INDUSTRY MOVES | Korbelin and Grasic Join Blackwell at Palm
Jan Korbelin and Marina Grasic, executive producers of " Crash" and " Alpha Dog" are joining Chris Blackwell's Palm Pictures as managing partners at the company, which is heading in a new direction, according to an announcement. Blackwell is Chairman of Palm, which vowed to expand production and acquisition among its theatrical, home video and converging digital divisions.

Shanon Larimer has been appointed executive director of Orlando's Enzian Theater and Florida Film Festival, the organization's president Sigrid Tiedtke announced Tuesday. Larimer, who formerly served as senior manager of public relations and communications for Busch Entertainment Corporation's Florida theme park division, "will play a key role in outlining the strategic vision, direction and inspiration for the organization's long-term future." Also, in early news from 17th FFF which takes place March 28 - April 6, Anthony Bourdain from the Travel Channel's "No Reservations" will take part in the event's opening festivities this year. iW NEWS | Tribeca and Gucci Team For Finishing Fund
The Tribeca Film Institute and fashion designer Gucci announced the joint launch of the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund. The fund will offer finishing funds and post production guidance to independent filmmakers in need of finances to complete documentaries that promote social change and illuminate issues in need of comprehensive coverage currently missing from mainstream media. It will provide grants totally $80,000 to a minimum of three filmmakers in 2008 and will be administered by the Tribeca Film Institute. The fund is open to documentary filmmakers who have projects in production or postproduction. Recipients will be selected by the Tribeca Film Institute along with Gucci and a selection committee of documentary filmmakers, to be announced at a later date. [Peter Knegt]

Lionsgate has announced its acquisition of two of writer/actor/director Tyler Perry's upcoming projects, " The Family That Preys Together" and " Madea Goes To Jail". This is coming off the Perry franchise's third #1 box office success, October's " Why Did I Get Married". Both acquired films are scheduled to begin production in Spring of 2008. iW NEWS | Film Independent Partners With B-Side For Spirit Awards
In a strong effort to eliminate paper and energy waste, Film Independent has partnered with independent film discovery and distribution company B-Side to offer online streaming of nominated films of the 2008 Spirit Awards. Members who wish to vote much register online by December 1, 2007. Only registered Film Independent members and IFP chapter members will receive voter information and the official ballot, which they can choose to submit online or by mail. Registered voters will also have access to view nominated films streaming online provided by B-Side. "B-Side is the perfect fit for our company's efforts in greening the Spirit Awards as they have the capabilities and technology to help us execute our goal of moving towards a greener way of doing things," said Dawn Hudson, Executive Director of Film Independent. The nominations for the Spirit Awards are announced Tuesday, November 27, at the Sofitel LA Hotel in Los Angeles, with the ceremony taking place in Santa Monica on February 23, 2008. [Peter Knegt]
