Hong Kong director Lee Chi-Ngai is directing " Dance Subaru," adapted from Masahito Soda's popular Japanese comic book. The producers of the project, which has just completed production and will be introduced at the upcoming Cannes Market, are Bill Kong ("House of Flying Daggers"), Masato Matsuura from Avex Entertainment Inc. and Ryuhei Chiba, co-CEO of Avex. iW NEWS | IFC Sets Debut for Zalla's Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner
IFC Films has set a release date for " Sangre De Mi Sangre" (Blood of My Blood), Christopher Zalla's first feature, formerly titled " Padre Nuestro," winner of the grand jury prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Described as, "a psychological thriller about stolen identity," the film follows a Mexican immigrant searching for his father in New York City. IFC Films has set a May 16th release date in New York (May 23rd in Los Angeles) including a premiere on IFC's Video on Demand platform, followed by a national roll-out. New York's IFC Center has set a roster of theatrical premieres on its Spring calendar. After Hou Hsiao-hsien's " Flight of the Red Balloon" from IFC on April 4th, Ellen Spiro and Phil Donahue's " Body of War" from The Film Sales Company will debut at the theater on April 9th for a one week run, with the doc filmmakers in attendance on opening night. Also on tap in April are Henry Miller's " Anamorph" and Scott Hicks' " Glass: A Portrait of Philip in Twelve Parts" from Koch Lorber (both on April 18th), as well as Yung Chang's " Up the Yangtze" from Zeitgeist Films (April 25th). May kicks off with IFC's " Mister Lonely" from Harmony Korine on May 2nd, including a mini-retrospective of Korine films on midnights in April. Also on tap are Doug Pray's " Surfwise" from Magnolia Pictures (May 9th), Christopher Zalla's Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner " Sangre de Mi Sangre" (formerly known as " Padre Nuestro") on May 16th, Parvez Sharma's " A Jihad for Love" from First Run Features (May 21st), and IFC's " Savage Grace" from Tom Kalin on May 30th. Nina Davenport's " Operation Filmmaker" from Icarus is set for a June 4th debut, while Guy Maddin's " My Winnipeg" will open on June 13th, followed by the New York Asian Film Festival, June 20th - July 3rd. AFP: Lebanon bans prize-winning cartoon "Persepolis"

iW NEWS | English-language "Persepolis" Set for 100 Screen Launch in April
Sony Pictures Classics has announced the launch of an English-language version of Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud's " Persepolis" on 100 screens on April 11th. The English-language edition features the voices of Chiara Mastroianni as Marjane, Sean Penn as Marjane's Father Ebi, Catherine Deneuve as Marjane's Mother Tadji, Gena Rowlands as Marjane's Grandmother, Iggy Pop as Uncle Anouche, and Amethyste Frezignac as Young Marjane. The original French-language version of the film opened on Christmas Day 2007 and has earned just over $4 million, so far. [Eugene Hernandez]

iW NEWS | Yauch's Oscilloscope Sets "Gunnin'" For June
Adam Yauch's new Oscilloscope Pictures has set the release date for its first film, Yauch's " Gunnin' For That #1 Spot." The doc, set to debut next month at the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, is the story of eight high school basketball players vying for fame at a Harlem invitational. Reuters: Japan cinema operator cancels "Yasukuni" screening
A Japanese movie theatre operator has decided not to show a documentary on Tokyo's Yasukuni war shrine, where convicted war criminals are among the 2.5 million venerated souls, in the latest row surrounding the film. Reuters reports.

INSIDE WORD | "Four Eyed" Monsters In The Home Stretch with IFC and DVD Deals
At an indie distribution panel today at SXSW, " Four Eyed Monsters" filmmakers Susan Buice & Arin Crumley revealed that they will sell a DVD of their film, bundled with five brand new video podcast episodes, at Borders stores on April 29th. In a deal with IFC TV, they indicated that they will also broadcast their film on the cable network. Buice and Crumley were joined on the panel by filmmaker Lance Weiler; indieWIRE profiled the trio and their efforts back in August of 2006. [Eugene Hernandez]

INSIDE WORD | "Blueberry" Booked for U.S. Release Next Month
New cut coming soon... The Weinstein Company has announced the release of Wong Kar Wai's " My Blueberry Nights," coming to U.S. theaters on next month. The company confirmed that a new version of the film will be released on April 4th. In a statement, TWC said, "This is a new cut of the film, different than the version shown at Cannes." "My Blueberry Nights" opened the Cannes fest last year where indieWIRE reported on the film.

Announced at the European Film Market this morning in Berlin -- the day after the world premiere of " Shine A Light" -- is the news that Martin Scorsese will make an authorized documentary about musician Bob Marley. Produced by Tuff Gong Pictures and Steve Bing's Shangri-La Entertainment, the film is being sold internationally by Fortissimo Films. Marley's son Ziggy is an executive producer of the film. NYT: Cinephiles, Pack Your Bags. An Uncut Version Awaits.
For weeks now, the ranks of Chinese visitors to Hong Kong have swelled with a brand-new category of tourists: moviegoers. In a response to the censoring of a film about love and betrayal in Shanghai during the Second World War by the Taiwan-born director Ang Lee, mainland movie fans have flocked by the thousands to Hong Kong to see the full, uncut version of the film, " Lust, Caution." Latin American cinema may be enjoying a Golden Age, but the movies must sometimes travel the world before they can get a showing on their home turf. Films must first reach international festivals like Cannes or Venice to have a chance of getting a distributor and running around the world, before maybe coming home to Latin America.
