Phillip Lopate

NY Times

Phillip Lopate is a writer and film critic.  He has served twice on the New York Film Festival selection committee, and as a guest director of the Telluride Film Festival.  His film crirticism has appeared in the New York Times, Film Comment, Vogue, Cineaste and many other publications.  A collection of his film criticism entitled “Totally Tenderly Tragically” was published by Anchor Books, and he also edited “American Movie Critics,” an anthology for the Library of America.  His other books include fiction (The Rug Merchant, Two Marriages), personal essays (Bachelorhood, Against Joie de Vivre, Portrait of My Body) and poetry (At the End of the Day).
