"Something Was Protecting This Movie" - Mark Wahlberg & David O. Russell Discuss 'The Fighter'

In the perpetual buzz of awards season, "The Fighter" has certainly made its amount of noise. The film was nominated for six Golden Globes (and took home two of them for Melissa Leo and Christian Bale), and now it's in the running for seven Oscars, including Best Picture. Back in January, we covered director David O. Russell's discussion with fellow filmmaker Spike Jonze at the MOMI in New York, but after the jump find part two -- if you will -- West coast style. Perhaps a bit more laid back (with the slight exception of Russell, who still donned a bow tie and tux having just come from the WGA awards) and with celebrity cameos to boot (Mark ...

David O. Russell Says He Bailed On ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’ Due To Budget Concerns

One big project that many people are eager to see leap to the big screen has been moving along in fits and starts, without picking up enough steam to move forward. "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" has had an interesting development history so far. In late 2009, David O. Russell was brought on board to write and direct the picture, with Natalie Portman producing and set to star. Then in October last year, Russell left the picture, with Portman following suit shortly afterward (but staying on to produce). In November, Mike White filled in the empty director's chair only to vacate the position last week, just over two months after he signed on....

Rosie Perez Is A Big Fan of 'The Fighter'

Last night, the beautifully designed, newly re-opened Museum of the Moving Image in Queens hosted a screening of “The Fighter,” the first film in their David O. Russell retrospective. That screening was followed by an hour-long conversation between Russell himself and long-time friend and filmmaker Spike Jonze. Jonze interviewed Russell on the condition that when Jonze had a new film out, the Museum would do his retrospective and Russell would return the favor and interview him. (Keep up the great programming, guys, seriously.) It was a candid, funny chat that zig-zagged through Russell’s entire career, starting with his Sundance splash “Span...

David O. Russell To Rewrite & Direct Action Comedy '2 Guns,' Vince Vaughn Attached To Star

Back in the fall, "2 Guns," an action-comedy with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson was announced....and then sort of forgotten. The project was in pretty early stages and while Wilson, at least for now, no longer seems to be in the mix, things are moving forward with some very impressive talent.
