Directed by François Ozon

Frantz

A tale of love and remembrance is set in a small German town in the aftermath of World War I, where a young woman mourning the death of her fiancé forms a bond with a mysterious Frenchman who has arrived to lay flowers on her beloved’s grave.

Potiche

Ozon’s new one is an adaptation of a French play set in a bourgeois province in 1977 and starring a veritable who’s who of the country’s best thesps, including Gerard Depardieu, Catherine Deneuve, Ludivine Sagnier, Cecile De France, and Jeremie Renier.

Ricky

When Katie meets Paco they fall in love. From this an extraordinary child is born; Ricky, who quickly develops into something wonderful and not so normal.

Le Refuge

Darlene and her daughter Victoria seek refuge at a remote rural safe house for abused women that’s run by the strict and tough, but folksy and supportive Bea. Things turn sour when Bea proves to be a total lunatic with an especially dangerous influence on the impressionable Victoria.

The New Girlfriend

In acclaimed writer-director Francois Ozon’s provocative new film, Claire (rising French star Anais Demoustier) discovers a secret about the husband of her late best friend, Laura. Following Laura’s death, Claire reaches out to comfort bereaved David (Romain Duris), only to discover his secret: he enjoys dressing as a woman. With dashes of George Cukor and Douglas Sirk, Ozon elevates his exploration of femininity to a new level.

Young and Beautiful (Jeune et jolie)

The first of four chapters begins with summer on the French Riviera: Isabelle, an arrestingly beautiful sixteen-year-old, is determined to lose her virginity, but when she succeeds, the experience leaves her cold and detached. Cut to the second chapter: autumn in Paris, and Isabelle is now leading a double life as a prostitute with her own website for setting up after-school assignations with a motley line-up of johns. But this secretive, latter-day Lolita is no victim. Well adjusted and well-off, it appears that she is simply enjoying her value as a commodity in the sexual marketplace. Whatever her motivations, with winter and spring yet to come, we can expect anything – anything that is, but easy answers. [Synopsis courtesy of COLCOA]
