Terry Monroe (Alexander Skarsgård) and Bob Bolano (Michael Peña)are two crooked cops who frame and blackmail criminals. One of the shitbirds they bring the hammer down on is a strip-club manager named Birdwell (Caleb Landry Jones). Birdwell reports back to his eccentric boss, James Mangan (Theo James), a British ex-pat and gentleman–junkie. Terry and Bob pursue a campaign of intimidation against both Birdwell and Mangan, looking for a final, big payoff, and inadvertently discover Mangan’s dark and disturbing secret. Calvary

Father James is a good priest, driven by spiritual integrity. One day in confession, an unseen man tells James that he’s going to kill him precisely because he’s done nothing wrong. Given a week to make his peace with God, James ministers to sundry lost souls—visits that double as a guided tour of suspects.
