Synopsis: A crisis of hunger looms in America and is not limited to the poverty stricken and uneducated. Can a return to policies of the 1970s save our future? [Synopsis courtesy of Sundance]
This is a well put-together. I think there is a greater awareness of these in the UK than there is in the US, but it is still very necessary and timely. Making explicit the fact that poverty and ignorance are not necessarily synonymous when it comes to nutrition and demonstrating the desperate need of millions Americans is vital if the First World are ever going to look after our own before spending our money killing others.
Some of the graphics used are simplistic and patronising, the illustrative graphs without real data seemed unnecessary, but the human stories and the alarming statistics tick all the documentary boxes.
All in all an effective and well made film.
