Synopsis: Karen gave her daughter Elizabeth up for adoption a few decades ago. Elizabeth is now a high-power attorney. The two know nothing of each other. Meanwhile, Lucy is fanatical about motherhood but cannot become pregnant, so she must adopt. The rest of the film is spent finding out how these stories fit together.
