Synopsis: Two women, one a Spanish mother of two children, the other a soon-to-be-married Russian professor, spend a night and a morning together in a hotel room in Rome.
I'm a fan of Julio Medem--I thought Lovers of the Artic Circle, and Sex and Lucia were some of his best works. Both films were sexually charged, as most of his films are. However, his movies of late--Caotica Ana and now Room in Rome resemble American Apparel ads, raunchy with no apparent purpose but to exploit the lovely actresses who bravely peel off their clothes with abandon. His films are becoming derivatives of one another. Pretty soon he'll drop all pretenses of a story and just have naked women lying in bed masturbating, because this is what seems to drive his storytelling--pure, unadulterated sex.
Although I'm still a supporter, my patience is peeling off faster than Najwa Nimri's undies.
