The Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced the lineup for its second annual Neighboring Scenes, a screening series devoted to contemporary Latin American cinema co-presented by Cinema Tropical. Taking its title from Kleber Mendonça Filho’s film of the same name, the program runs from January 26 — 31. 15 films (13 features and two shorts) will screen, 11 of which are premieres and half of which were directed by women.
“When the head of Panamerican Machinery dies on a Friday morning, his employees discover how rare their situation is: Don Alejandro had been paying them out of his own pocket, and that any severance or retirement funds are nonexistent. Rather than face the world that’s made them obsolete, the workers decide to lock themselves inside the plant until they reach a decision about how to proceed.” (FSLC)
