It wasn’t a secret that Kirsten Dunst was making a movie with Rodarte founders Kate Mulleavy and Laura Mulleavy, but the project has been so mysterious and has remained so low key that the arrival of the gorgeous first trailer is being treated like a big surprise.
The project, entitled “Woodshock,” stars Kirsten Dunst as a greiving woman who spirals out of a control due to her fractured emotional state and the side effects of a reality-altering drug. The trailer teases a hypnotic art film, with impressionistic lighting and dreamy images that fade the characters into their natural surroundings.
Whether you knew about “Woodshock” or not, this debut trailer proves distributor A24 could have a fall hit on its hands, as well as two filmmakers who could be major new voices in the indie film world. The movie opens September 15.
