Spring 2016 Interns - Social Media
We are looking for a spring intern to work out of our New York City office under our Community Manager, who runs all of Indiewire's social media. The internship is unpaid, but we will gladly provide school credit and the opportunity to take on paid freelance assignments after the internship has ended. Spring internships typically begin the first week of the spring semester and run until the last week of said semester.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Assist Community Manager in reading the entirety of Indiewire's editorial output to drive traffic to up to 50 articles per day.
-Track social media trends and news.
-Help implement new social strategy.
-Learn Google Analytics to report on social media performance.
-Opportunity to pitch and write essays and think-pieces.

-2 years minimum required education, in pursuit of Bachelor's Degree.
-Strong writing skills.
-Familiarity with the social media landscape, particularly Twitter and Facebook.
-Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.

-Strong interest in film and television studies.

Spring 2016 Interns - Video
We are looking for interns to assist the Indiewire video department for the Spring 2016 semester. We are flexible with schedule but require a commitment of 2 days a week in our office, conveniently located in NoHo.

As an integral part of the team, you will gain hands-on experience and an in-depth understanding of online video, as well as the ins and outs of digital publishing. We are looking for someone who is tech- and media-savvy with a passion for film and TV.  

Primary Responsibilities:
-Formatting and uploading videos from various studios and sources to the Indiewire Content Management System; inputting metadata, tags and descriptions.
-Helping to build out the Indiewire YouTube channel and assisting with its daily management and maintenance. 
-Helping to compile reports on Indiewire’s daily/weekly/monthly video performance.
-Assisting with research projects on online video, digital publishing and Indiewire competitors.
-Researching third-party video and partnership opportunities.
-Assisting with office operations and providing general support to the Indiewire team.

-2 years minimum required education, in pursuit of Bachelor's Degree.
-Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
-Proficiency with FinalCutPro and Photoshop preferred.
-A passion for independent film & TV and knowledge of the industry.

Ad Ops Coordinator
The Ad Ops Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, coordinating, and providing support related to the Advertising Operations activities of Indiewire and its entertainment properties. This position will be responsible for trafficking and maintaining display, video, mobile web, and APP campaigns across multiple platforms.


  • Use Google DFP, as well as other 3rd party platforms such as DART, Atlas, MediaMind, Pointroll, Media Ocean ad serving systems to traffic, test creative, schedule, optimize, and report on complex ad campaigns.
  • Proactively investigate issues (delivery discrepancies, billing disputes, technical issues, etc.) with clients, agencies, and/or internal parties and provide resolutions.
  • Work directly with advertisers & media designers to collect creative assets, troubleshoot technical issues, and correctly implement rich media creative.
  • Assist in preparation of delivery reports for clients and internal pipeline/ inventory forecasting reports.
  • Reconcile ad revenue across multiple platforms and partners for billing allocation and invoicing.


  • Bachelors Degree in related field
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

These qualities are a definite plus 

  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator 
  • Familiarity with mobile, desktop, and video ad servers (DFP preferred).
  • Debugging and HTML proxy tools, including Charles, Firebug, Chrome Developer.
  • Working knowledge of video tags (VAST, VPAID, & VMAP video tags) and display ads (Flash, HTML, iFrame, JavaScript) 
  • Experience with clients in general consumer products or the entertainment industry.
