"Volver" star Penelope Cruz was greeted by National Board of Review president Annie Schulhof at the beginning of the organization's awards gala Tuesday night at New York's Cipriani (a former bank now party venue). Cruz attended in order to introduce director Pedro Almodovar who received the award for best foreign film (for "Volver"). While introducing him, Cruz said she had first seen Almodovar's "Tie Me UP, Tie Me Down" after sneaking in to see it (she was underage) and decided then that she wanted to act. iW: Video link: Check out Penelope Cruz's presentaton and Pedro Almodovar's acceptance speech in an indieWIRE video clip posted on YouTube.
