Six New Yorkers contributing to the city's busy entertainment industry were saluted by Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Monday evening in Manhattan. HDNet Films' Jason Kliot and Joana Vicente, "30 Rock"'s Tina Fey, Black Filmmaker Foundation president Warrington Hudlin, commercial director Kevin Breslin, and The New Victory Theater were all singled out at the second annual "Made in NY" Awards, affectionately dubbed "The MiNY's" by the Mayor during a swift ceremony in Vanderbuilt Hall at Grand Central Station. "Business is booming and that is a great time for us to promote a diversity initiative," boasted New York City's film, theater and TV commissioner Katherine Oliver, prior to introducing Bloomberg. Guests were gathered within a large interactive exhibit featuring photos from films shot in the City over the years. And challenging the tradition of longwinded awards programs with lenthly acceptance speeches, the "MiNY's" featured the Mayor announcing the recipients, handing each their trophy and quickly posing for a photo, before inviting guests to return to their drinking and networking. "It's a great day for New York and a really says how wonderful this city is doing," Mayor Bloomberg concluded after the brief presentation. "Keep up the great work!"
