WORLD CINEMA
At the AMC Orpheum on 3rd Ave. in Manhattan on Tuesday night, director Jorge Gaggero greets well-wishers, including journalist David d'Arcy (right) and Cinema Tropical co-founder and co-creator Carlos A. Gutierrez (left) after a screening of "Live-In Maid." The film, an award-winner at Sundance, opens today for a two-week run at Film Forum in Manhattan and is being released by The Film Sales Company. As company principle Andrew Herwitz told indieWIRE on Tuesday during a festive pre-screening reception at his Upper East Side home, he will release distribute film in some 25 cities. Faced with offers that just didn't make financial sense, Herwitz decided to take on the theatrical release of the well-reviewed film himself.
