Rocket Science" producer
Effie Brown of
Duly Noted, Inc. is pictured at the film's premiere at Fig & Olive in New York City's Meatpacking District on Tuesday night. With the
HBO/
Picturehouse project behind her, Brown is prepping to shoot
Caran Hartsfield's "
Bury Me Standing" this month. The 2007
Sundance/NHK International Filmmakers Award receipient which was developed at the
Cannes Film Festival's
Cinefondation residency program in France, will star
Alfre Woodard and
Mos Def. It is described as "a comedic drama in which a random act of violence triggers a change within a bizarre family dynamic, as each member re-examines the ignored, the hidden, and the things left unsaid."
Gina Kwon is Brown's producing partner in the new movie. Mos Def is also set to star in the title role in director duo
The Flying Canter Brothers (aka. Markus and Mason Canter)'s "
Bobby Zero," which Brown will also produce. It is described as the story of "a down-on-his-luck social satirist who gives up his artistic aspirations to work at an advertising agency." Mos Def will execuive produce and the film is expected to shoot in November. Other Duly Noted projects include
Silas Howard's "
Exactly Like You" and
Marco Orsini's "
The Reluctant Traveler" and Brown is raising money for a $25 million film fund to back company projects.
