Before heading to the
Sundance Film Festival next week to debut his new film "
Be Kind Rewind," filmmaker
Michel Gondry has been on an
indieWIRE Presents mini-tour of Apple stores, to talk about the film and screen a few clips, including a special surprise "trailer" that has had people buzzing. Some 350 people packed the
Apple Store - North Michigan Avenue for a conversation moderated by
Time Out Chicago's
Ben Kenigsberg (top photo). Meanwhile, at the
Apple Store - San Francisco, a line stretched around the block and
Susan Gerhard from
SF360 moderated the event (bottom photo), which included a surprise appearance by the film's co-star, Mos Def. Gerhard reported after the program, "Someone from the audience asked Michel Gondry & Mos Def why they hadn't collaborated on a music video together, which led to some cheerful back & forth, and Gondry came up with an idea: He told Mos if he came to Sundance to promote the film, he (Gondry) would make a music video for him for free..." Gondry will be at the
Apple Store - Soho (103 Prince St. at Greene St.) for the
indieWIRE Presents event at 7 p.m. on Friday (January 11th). Attendees are invited to arrive early as seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
