Variety hosted a party for Martin Scorsese and the Rolling Stones for the New York premiere of rock doc "Shine a Light" as well as the ten year anniversary of Variety Gotham Sunday night at Michael's restaurant in Manhattan. As one can imagine, having the Stones there was quite an operation... They arrived via police escort and dozens of their fans waited behind barricades for their arrival. Inside, their presence resulted in a crush toward the front of the room, but Mick Jagger and Keith Richards mixed among the crowd. Jagger chatted around the crowd while Richards hung out at the bar and Ron Wood and Charlie Watts sat by the coat check. In all, it was quite a thrill even if the group and Scorsese didn't stay too long. That was a whole different level of celebrity...
