"12 Angry Men" (The Criterion Collection)

Sidney Lumet's classic courtroom drama gets a stunning transfer courtesy of The Criterion Collection, who have outfitted the release with a bevy of essential extras. Henry Fonda gives a searing performance as the dissenting member on a jury of white men ready to pass judgment on a Puerto Rican teenager charged with murdering his father. Still as electrifying now as it was when first released in 1957.

    "The Devil's Double" (DVD/Blu-ray)

In Lee Tamahori's brutal and exhilarating thriller, Dominic Cooper does double duty as both Iraqi army lieutenant Latif Yahi and Saddam Hussein's psychotic son Uday Hussein, whom Latif is ordered to impersonate. French actress Ludivine Sagnier also stars as Uday's seductive mistress who falls for Latif. The film premiered at Sundance to tepid reviews, but it's worth catching for Cooper's double act alone.

Based on Tatiana de Rosnay’s New York Times best seller, "Sarah’s Key" is the story of an American journalist in Paris, Julia Jarmond (Kristin Scott Thomas), whose research for an article about the Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup in 1942 in France turns her own world upside down. Scott Thomas gives a a typically committed turn in this moving and noble effort from French filmmaker Gilles Paquet-Brenner.

    "Amigo" (VOD)

Oscar-nominated filmmaker John Sayles dusted off an obscure part of American (and Filipino) history in making his latest film "Amigo," set in the Philippines amidst the backdrop of U.S. occupation following the defeat of the country's long-time colonial overlord, Spain. The drama follows a group of U.S. troops who occupy the small jungle hamlet. Another powerful and ambitious film from the filmmaker who brought us "Lone Star" and "Matewan."
