“Herb and Dorothy” Bring on the Art

“Herb and Dorothy” Bring on the Art

by Brian Brooks (June 4, 2009)

Taking a little star wattage with actress Andie MacDowell in New York, Herb and Dorothy Vogel join in on the celebrations for the film about them, simply titled “Herb and Dorothy,” directed by Megumi Sasaki. The couple are an unlikely pair to amass one of the most important collections of contemporary art in the world. He was a postal clerk and she was a librarian, but with their modest incomes they managed to do just that, redefining what it means to be art collectors. The film had its debut Monday night at Cinema Village in New York. [Photo credit, Arthouse]
