Hong Kong star Maggie Cheung won the Festival de Cannes' best actress prize for her role in Olivier Assayas' "Clean." Once one was admitted to any Cannes press conference (which isn't necessarily all that easy even for people with priority badges) the festival allowed attendees to take pictures, a surprisingly laissez-faire policy at Cannes.

The Palais des Festivals has become a star of its own. The famous backdrop is synonymous with the glitz of Cannes, and passers-by take pictures of themselves in front of the red carpet when the opportunity arises (as in, when the National Police aren't blocking it off and shoo-ing people away). In this pic, celebs and guests descend the red carpet following the gala screening of "Shrek 2," which brought out a high celeb count and a huge amount of fans to the Croisette on the festival's first Saturday.

A large cross-section of the specialty and independent film community (but not all by any means) spent a pleasant afternoon at the Killer Films cocktail party at their villa in Mougins, outside of Cannes on Wednesday. This unusual iPOP opportunity came about with the help of Jeanne Berney's expert organization skills. The pic was originally taken in two-halves, but has been edited to look like one photo.
