Like most people, I couldn't get to see most of the films.
Larry Gross' writing award for "We Don't Live Here
Anymore" was richly deserved.
"Spring, Summer, Winter, and.." would have been well
deserving of one of the World Cinema Audience Awards,

"Never Die Alone," which was not eligible as a Premiere,
might have richly deserved a Cinematography Award for
Matthew Libatique, who impresses more every time out.
Libatique is a working industry professional, but so is
Nancy Schreiber. This is not meant as a dis on Nacy and
her fine work.

Rodney
Delighted your film recognized with special Jury Prize. Your acceptance speech was inspirational and I especially liked what you said about exploring the diversity of the African-American experience. We need more film-makers with your intelligence and sensitivity.
I am sooooo proud of you.

GREAT NEWS!!!!   POSTED Sat Jan 24 [10:30 PM] BY nolivier985

Shane,
We just received word about you winning the Grand Jury Prize and cannot tell you in words how excited and proud we are of you.
Receiving the Alfred Sloan Award was an honor in its self, but the Grand Jury Award is the icing on the cake. You have devoted the last couple of years to this and I know at times you wanted to give up. I told you Mom, when you were in L.A. and getting so aggitated to tell you that God had not brought you that far to turn back. Tonight he was shining down on you, while you were shining in the spotlight in Utah!

Your preserverance and dedication is something that makes you the special person that you are and never forget that.

Your family here as well as you cousins from state to state are all wishing you the very best in all of your endeavors to come.

Tonight is your night and no one could ever be as excited about this as Grandma Jerry. She was so excited when she called me, that she couldn't talk.

I hope and pray that the rest of this movie negotiation will be done in a manner that shows your brilliance and that you will take one moment after taking a big sigh, and thank God for bringing you through so many trials and not letting Satan discourage you or your goals and faith.

Faith moves mountains and my friend, my nephew, you, your cast and crew have moved the mountains in Utah tonight.

What a blessing!

We love you and know that this is just the beginning of a new start for you.

Reach for the stars and shine!!!!

Love,
Aunt Barbara, Uncle Nolan, Angie and Jason
