VENICE '07: Anderson, Haggis, Haynes, Lee, Loach, Miike, and More Set for 64th Venice Fest

Joe Wright's "Atonement" will open the 64th Venice Film Festival, running August 29 - September 8, 2007 in Italy. The complete lineup for the festival was announced today by event president Davide Croff and Festival Director Marco Muller. New films from Wes Anderson, Kenneth Branagh, Peter Greenaway, Paul Haggis, Todd Haynes, Ang Lee, Ken Loach, Takashi Miike, and Eric Rohmer are among those in competition at this year's festival. Launched in 1932, the event will celebrate 75 years since its first edition with the 75th anniversary Golden Lion awarded to Bernardo Bertolucci. Also, Tim Burton will receive the Golden Lion for lifetime achievement. Also on tap will be a retrospective of Spaghetti Westerns" with Quentin Tarantino.
