Ruth Vitale and David Dinerstein
Paramount Classics, Co-Presidents (five years)

BACKGROUND: Both attended school in Boston, Vitale at Tufts, Dinerstein at Boston University. They say that "collectively we are 90 which makes us sage-like." Dinerstein grew up in New York and is a veteran of Miramax, Fox Searchlight, and several commercial production companies. Vitale started working in broadcasting and advertising, then worked at The Movie Channel, Vestron, United Artists, and Fine Line.

MOST IMPORTANT FILM FESTIVALS: Cannes. Sundance. And Venice for foreign language films. They seem to have the widest selection and the largest number of new films from an acquisitions stand point.

FAVORITE FILMS OF THE LAST THREE YEARS: "Memento," "You Can Count On Me" "Girl On The Bridge," "The Quiet American," "Monsters, Inc., "Pirates of the Caribbean"

RECENT FILMS INVOLVED WITH ACQUIRING: "Northfork," "The Singing Detective," "The United States of Leland"

TYPES OF FILMS COMPANY LOOKS FOR: A varied slate that we feel will receive critical attention and will tap into art-house audiences.

HOW TO GET THE ATTENTION OF BUYERS: Get your feature into an important film festival or show it to us first so we can help. Hire an agent, lawyer or producer's rep who can get us on the phone. Someone we trust.

WRONG WAY TO GET ATTENTION: Multiple mailings (junk mail), through family connections (we will always be polite, but usually pass).
