Phil Donahue and HIFF vet
Alec Baldwin were joined by
Doron Weber of the
Alfred P. Sloan Foundation which sponsored a chat about science and film at the Hamptons fest over the weekend. Donahue, who was attending the festival with "
Body of War," which he produced warned that the religious right were a big threat to science in the U.S. "No other nation on earth has to deal with taking Darwin out of high school text books... We are in the business of dumbing down our children. Baldwin reserved criticism for the Reagan and Bush I and II administrations for politicizing PBS by not respecting its original mission and filling its ranks with cronies.
