The
IFC Center in New York was a buzz of activity Monday night with a benefit screening of director
David Zeiger's doc "
Sir! No Sir!." The
Hamptons fest winner chronicles the efforts by troops in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War to oppose the war effort by peaceful demonstration and subversion. Two-time
Oscarwinner
Jane Fonda, who also appears in the film, showed up for the screenings and posed with veterans from Vietnam and Iraq, including
Joe Urgo,
Dave Cline,
Susan Schnall,
Greg Payton,
Oliver Hirsch,
Jerry Lempcke,
Joe Bangart,
Elder Halim Gullahbemi and
Don May prior to the evening's first screening. Zeiger, Fonda and the veterans received standing ovations at the screenings.

Hey Bert_Duck! Are you a fish out of water? Or a bird with no feathers? While I was mired in the shit as a GI in SE Asia I prayed for thousands more like Jane Fonda who would stand up and speak out against the genocide we were being forced to participate in by the US Government. I, like most of the other GI's I was with wanted to get the hell out of a war we had no business being involved in! I admire Jane Fonda for being a brave and courageous advocate for me and most everyone else that wasn't a "beggar/lifer" or a right wing nut case (which is who the corporate media apparently likes to get quotes from)! Angela Davis! I loved you too! Thank you soo much everyone who helped to bring us home and end that catastrophe. Get your head on straight Mr. Duck! No real Vietnam Vet ever spit in Jane's face. It's about time somebody made a movie depicting the truth!

Vietnam Vets are not Fonda Jane.

What kind of English is that bert_duck? No one spit on Fonda and you don't sound like a vet. I am. Jane is my hero for speaking up when I couldn't.

What kind of English is that? It didn't happen and you don't sound like a vet already. I am. Jane is my hero for speaking up when I couldn't.
