More than six years in the making, "
SqueezeBox!" directed by
Zach Shaffer (center) and
Steve Saporito (left), was produced
Lyle Derek (right), a one-time dancer at the popular weekly downtown nightspot. Chatting with
indieWIRE back in 2002 at the birth of the documentary, Derek said, "For me, coming from a small town in Texas, finding Squeezebox was like finding the ultimate freedom. There were no judgments, you could be whatever you wanted and do what every you wanted -- it was just pure and fun and free." The film later went to the
IFP Market and will now have its world premiere at the
Tribeca Film Festival, chatting with iW at TFF/IFP party on Tuesday night in Manhattan, the guys quipped that the club lasted as long as it took to make their film about it.
