Top Films of 2014 So Far

After votes from 122 critics, Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" checked in at #1 in our second-annual mid-year poll. Jonathan Glazer's enigmatic, potentially-nightmare-inducing "Under the Skin," Jim Jarmusch's modern nostalgia for the undead "Only Lovers Left Alive" and Pawel Pawlikowski's "Ida," a lush black-and-white tale of discovering the past, all finished close behind. In order to focus the results on films that are available for public consumption, all films that have had an official theatrical or VOD release were eligible for inclusion. (Those films that have played at festivals but have impending release dates will be fair game for our traditional end-of-year poll in December.)
