Ranked: Our Favorite Directing Duos From Best To Worst

This weekend comedy sequel “22 Jump Street” hits theaters, on a wave of goodwill and giggly advance reviews (our own included). For once it seems the usually barren ground of the comedy sequel has yielded something decent, and that is cause for celebration indeed. But already now the question is sta...

Uh-Oh: Keanu Reeves Passes On 'Akira'; Is The Film In Serious Trouble?

Possible Cancellation of Project Devastates... Oh Right, Nobody Pretty much ever since its U.S. release in 1988, someone, somewhere has wanted to do an Americanized remake of "Akira." So thank the god of movie blogs for Mark Wahlberg, who seems to have caused about 75% of all news stories this week. He's not in...

Morgan Freeman Circling 'Akira,' Zac Efron Offered Lead Role

Steam is beginning to build around Warner Bros. remake of the classic anime "Akira" with some interesting names being thrown around. But first a quick history recap: In February of this year, directing duo Allen and Albert Hughes were brought on to direct the film and this summer, Albert Torres ("Henry Poole Is Here") was hired to pen a new draft of the script with a due date of September. The project will be a two-film, PG-13 adaptation of the manga with the Hughes Brothers currently only on board for the first section which will bring books 1-3 of the series to the big screen. And it now looks like all systems are go as casting is tentative...
