Watch: New Trailer For Pixar's 'Brave' Arrives & Delivers A Sprawling Adventure

It's been a bit of a disappointing 2011 for Pixar fans. The famed animation studio spent the year spinning its wheels both creatively and figuratively "Cars 2," the second straight sequel from the studio built around orginal ideas, with two "Toy Story" shorts making thei...

D23: ‘John Carter,’ ‘Timothy Green’ Receive Lukewarm Responses

'Oz' & 'Frankenweenie' Presentations Are BriefAt this weekend’s D23 convention, Disney hopes to capitalize on the excitement around must-see projects like “The Avengers,” Pixar’s “Brave” and “The Muppets” by presenting a look at their entire slate of releases across all divisions. They opened with a lengthy animation presentation from John Lasseter that was heavy on Pixar (“Planes,” “Brave,” “Monsters University” and two new project announcements) and concluded with a Marvel presentation that, while brief, still managed to set fanboys hearts aflutter with a first extended look at “The Avengers.” In-between Disney faced their greatest challeng...

Disney’s D23 Showing Strong On The Animation SideThis morning Disney rolled out a large slate of announcements as part of its D23 Fan Expo, which the mouse house hopes will develop into their answer to Comic-Con. And considering the Saturday sellout at the Anaheim Convention Center, they might reall...

'Goblet Of Fire' & 'Thor' Composer Patrick Doyle Scoring Pixar's 'Brave'

It seems almost everything about Pixar's "Brave" is a shift in direction for the famed animation studio. Featuring a female protagonist for the first time in their history, the film is a fantasy-like fable that seems more in the wheelhouse of Disney during their heyday than in Pixar's much more cont...

Watch: Teaser Trailer For Pixar's 'Brave' Is More Epic Than 'Immortals'

Earlier today, a new trailer dropped for Tarsem's "Immortals," his Greek swords and sandals thingy that confuses being "epic" with simply being loud and pretty ridiculous looking. Leave it to Pixar then to show 'em how to make something look epic and sweeping with their minute-long teaser for next y...

First Look At Four Characters From Pixar's 'Brave'

With "Cars 2" hitting theaters tomorrow, we expect a teaser trailer for Pixar's "Brave" to arrive any moment now, but until then yesterday's poster and these character pics will have to do.

First Poster For Pixar's 'Brave' Arrives

For those bemoaning Pixar's unfortunate swing into sequel-dom with last year's "Toy Story 3," this year's "Cars 2" and the upcoming "Monsters University," the good news is they've got some original content in the pipeline. The studio just set a 2013 date for a mysterious new project, but before that...

First Poster & Clip Arrive For Latest Pixar Short 'La Luna'

We're be decidedly un-enamored of Pixar's recent approach to their features: this year's "Cars 2" looks, if anything, worse than its predecessor, and being jammed between last year's "Toy Story 3" and 2013's "Monsters University," the studio, one of the true bastions of creativity in the industry, seems to be heading towards the sequel-happy approach of every other big company, with next year's "Brave" being the only confirmed original project on their slate (although we've got no doubt that there are plenty of other films in the works), and big name directors like Andrew Stanton and Brad Bird being wooed away to the live-action world for fil...

First Look At Pixar's First Female Protagonist In 'Brave'

Ah, "Brave." Pixar's next film, after "Cars 2" (and their first non-sequel since 2009's "Up") and according to daintily-worded press releases their first "fairy tale," has had its difficulties – Brenda Chapman, a member of the coveted Pixar brain trust and the first female director to helm a feature at the studio, was fired from the movie after developing it for six years. (According to a Los Angeles Times article from yesterday, she is on a "leave of absence" from Pixar and describes her removal as being for "creative differences.") After Chapman left, an empowered Reese Witherspoon, unhappy with the shake-up and loyal to Chapman, also baile...

Kelly Macdonald Replaces Reese Witherspoon As Lead Of Pixar's 'Brave,' First Concept Art Revealed

Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane Also In Voice CastConsidering the run the studio have been on recently ("Ratatouille," "Wall-E" and "Up" all in quick succession), it's a little sad that we're facing such a gap of original material from Pixar -- "Toy Story 3" came last year, and, much worse, "Cars 2" this year. But we're now heading toward the light at the end of the tunnel: 2012 will see "Brave," formerly known as "The Bear & The Bow," and shows the company once more moving into new territory -- with its first fairy tale, and its first female lead (the delay in the arrival of the latter being something that they've faced criticism for recentl...
