Three Clips From Sarah Polley's "Take This Waltz"!

Most certainly one of my most anticipated films of this year's Toronto Film Festival, three clips from writer/director Sarah Polley's "Take This Waltz" have surfaced and they're gorgeous (who knew Sarah Polley had so much Wong Kar Wai in her). An infidelity drama (my favourite kind of drama!) set during a hot Toronto summer, its script was on the Blacklist (with good reason - I got the chance to read last year and it's fantastic), and I can't think of much better hands than Polley herself as director and Michelle Williams as star to pull it off. And the somewhat questionable casting of Sarah Silverman as Williams' sister-in-law seems promisi...

Absolutely Insane Footage From Vancouver After Canucks Lost Stanley Cup

I still can't get over how insane things got last night after Vancouver lost. 140 people in the hospital? Multiple STABBINGS!? It's a fucking hockey game, but somehow it resulted in turning a generally calm city into an absolute warzone. First world fucking problems, people.

Eight Minutes In The Back of a Car With Mike Mills

Here's the audio that goes with this interview with "Beginners" director Mike Mills, which took place in the back of a car while Mills was en route to a screening of the film at last fall's Toronto Film Festival (the film opens in theaters today)... Mills is a charming guy, and has made a lovely little film in "Beginners." The film juggles chronologies as it details a pivotal period in the life of Oliver (Ewan McGregor), a man in his late thirties dealing with the death of his father (an endlessly charming Christopher Plummer). Through flashbacks, Mills shows the years leading up to Oliver's father's death - most notably in the fact that af...

From one of indieWIRE's Tribeca Film Festival Apple Store Talks earlier this week, the always hysterical Will Ferrell and his "Everything Must Go" director Dan Rush chat it up with Eugene Hernandez:

Watch The Q&A From "Swell Season" Screening at Tribeca

Caught “The Swell Season” - the doc on "Once" stars Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova - at Tribeca last night... Ith almost feels like a sequel to “Once” - had the two main characters ended up getting together and forming a band (which is not entirely implausible). While “Once” was more or less a wor...

Watch Balloons Drop On Arcade Fire's Dreamy Coachella Set

I've spent my hungover Sunday endlessly watching videos from what was clearly a downright legendary set at Coachella by Arcade Fire last night. Hundreds of balloons descended on the crowd during "Wake Up" and stayed though a chills-inducing encore of "Ready To Start." Ridiculous jealousy sent the w...

Though at times frustrating, at times boring, and at times almost farcical... If you're a Canadian of voting age, watching our federal election debate is a very responsible exercise if you didn't catch it last night.
