Watch: Yet Another Trailer For 'The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader'

A Title So Long, We Couldn't Fit A Joke In The HeadlineWe've quite enjoyed some of the "Harry Potter" films. And yet, we're still fairly apathetic every time one rolls around -- maybe it's the sheer volume of the series. So you can imagine the giant collective shrug that comes from The Playlist team...

Morgan Freeman Circling 'Akira,' Zac Efron Offered Lead Role

Steam is beginning to build around Warner Bros. remake of the classic anime "Akira" with some interesting names being thrown around. But first a quick history recap: In February of this year, directing duo Allen and Albert Hughes were brought on to direct the film and this summer, Albert Torres ("Henry Poole Is Here") was hired to pen a new draft of the script with a due date of September. The project will be a two-film, PG-13 adaptation of the manga with the Hughes Brothers currently only on board for the first section which will bring books 1-3 of the series to the big screen. And it now looks like all systems are go as casting is tentative...

‘Zombieland’ Writers Adapting ‘Cowboy Ninja Viking’ Comics

Screenwriters Update Status On 'Deadpool' & 'Zombieland 2'If you thought "Cowboys & Aliens" was a weird and disparate nuts and gum-like concept, well you haven't seen nuthin' yet. "Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick -- quickly being pegged as the go-to guys for anything, weird, irrever...

Box-Office: R-Rated 'Due Date' Can't Outwit The Animated 'Megamind'

It had all the ingredients of a big winner. "Due Date" was widely known as Todd Phillips' R-rated follow-up to the massively successful R-rated "The Hangover," and he had that film's biggest breakout comedian Zach Galifianakis onboard, plus one of the world's biggest stars Robert Downey Jr. But perhaps seasonal timing is everything. "The Hangover" was a surprised hit in the early summer of 2009, and perhaps R-rated comedy that's occasionally nasty doesn't work quite as well in the fall. It's also possibly one of those instances when audiences actually listened to critics for once. "Due Date" was met with mixed reviews and currently holds a r...

Mary Jane Watson Will Not Appear In The Upcoming 'Spider-Man'

Contrary to early reports, it looks like the new Peter Parker won't be the meat in a two-lady sandwich. Redheaded love interest Mary Jane Watson, played by Kirsten Dunst in the previous three "Spider-Man" films, won't factor into the new reboot of the character scheduled for 2012. Consider this good news for the purists who were upset that Mary Jane was considered Peter's one-and-only in the previous Spidey adventures. In the comics, not only was the web-slinger far from a one-woman man, but he remained haunted by the passing of his first true love, Gwen Stacy. Once she died at the hands of the Green Goblin, however, he became a total and com...

Martin Sheen To Play Uncle Ben In 'Spider-Man' Reboot

Let Bartlett Be Bartlett Ben We're going to come out and say this now -- we're in an uncharacteristically optimistic mood about the "Spider-Man" reboot. Aside from the excellent middle chapter, Sam Raimi's films were fairly disappointing, so it's not like there's room for improvement. There's a sc...
